Dr. Alagusundaram is serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the Tamil Nadu Food Processing and Agri Export Promotion Corporation. He has a wealth of academic and research management experiences both in India and overseas. His impressive service record includes 07 years of heading Agricultural Engineering and Natural Resource Management research in India, nearly 07 years of heading National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM), 15 years of teaching and research in TNAU and 07 years in the University of Manitoba, Canada.
He has created a world class Institute called NIFTEM at Thanjavur; 33 food testing laboratories for the country, teaching laboratories for NITEM, Thanjavur, NIFTEM, Haryana and TNAU; a meat product testing laboratory in New Delhi and 03 referral testing laboratories.
He represented India in UN-ESCAP-CSAM (Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization) for 07 years; Chaired committees like BIS-FAD-20 (Agriculture and Food Processing Equipment Committee) for 07 years; Committee to draw guidelines for drones usage in agriculture; Trade Committee for designing new curriculum for skill development in Food Processing; Committee on establishment of Food Quality Testing Laboratories in the country; Committee to fix validity of test reports for agricultural implements and numerous others.
His long career is supported by his strong academic preparation. He earned a bachelor degree in Agricultural Engineering from TNAU, two master degrees from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand and University of Manitoba (UofM), Canada and a Doctoral degree from UofM, Canada. He has more than 300 research publications in reputed journals.
