Tai Lee Siang

Head of Pillar, Architecture & Sustainable Centre Director, Singapore University of Technology & Design

Prof Tai started his career as an urban designer with the Urban Redevelopment Authority in 1990. He joined DP Architects in 1992 and became a partner in 2000. Between 2011 to 2016, Prof Tai joined Ong&Ong Group, a multi-disciplinary design firm as Group Managing Director. In 2018, Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority invited Prof Tai to assume the position of Executive Director, BuildSG to spearhead industry transformation. His role was expanded to include Communication and Engagement in 2020. In 2021, Prof Tai was appointed by the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) as the Head of Pillar, Architecture and Sustainable Design.

Prof Tai is most passionate about voluntary work on the NGO front. In the 10 years between 2007 and 2018, he was elected president of three trade associations and chairman of a global NGO. The organizations are :

A key initiative which Prof Tai started during his term as World GBC Chair is the Advancing Net Zero movement that resulted in the increased adoption of Net Zero Buildings worldwide.
